 Who We Are

Purpose Statement and Statement of Faith

If you would like more information about the CCCC, please visit their website (link below).
CCCC Website
The Purpose Statement of Putnam Congregational Church is to glorify our Lord Jesus Christ through worship, discipleship, and evangelism.
The Statement of Faith of the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC) is:
  • We believe the Bible consisting of the Old and New Testament, to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God written.
  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling power and fullness the Christian is enabled to live a godly life in this present evil world.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Christ.

While we use the New International Version here at Putnam Congregational Church, we welcome many translations. What is important to us is not in translation preference, but in being Gospel-driven.

"In essentials, unity; In non-essentials, liberty; In all things, charity."

The statement on the left is the summation of what the CCCC Conference is all about. The CCCC comes from a rich heritage that sees its history as first emerging with the Pilgrims and Puritans of Colonial America. While the current conference is much more diverse today that it was in the 17th century, the tradition of holding fast to the Word of God for His glory is at the core of everything we do.

Polity: The church is headed by Christ and is led cooperatively under the shepherding of the pastor and the deacons. Four "quarterly" meetings are held in which members vote on various decisions of the church.
